A new series of water quality and recycling webinars will begin Aug. 18. The webinars will help growers successfully manage water-quality issues and recycle irrigation water.
This education program to promote water conservation is co-sponsored by the Water Education Alliance for Horticulture (a collaborative program hosted by the University of Florida), OFA — an Association of Horticulture Professionals, the Society of American Florists, and the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association. The series of 30-minute live presentations will feature both new research and practical guidelines.
On Aug. 18, Paul Fisher of the University of Florida will present "Water treatment technologies and recycling"; on Sept. 17, Rob Wick of the University of Massachusetts will present "Biology of Waterborne Pathogens"; on Nov. 17, Loren Oki of the University of California and Sarah White of Clemson University will present "Ecological Approaches to Water Treatment," which will include slow sand filtration and constructed wetlands; and Jan. 20, 2011, Bill Argo of the Blackmore Co. will present "Nutritional Aspects of Water Quality."
