We've got a double header of sorts going on in the industry this week.
There are two industry trade shows taking place over the next six days — the Independent Garden Center Show and the Farwest Show
The 2012 Independent Garden Center Show starts tomorrow and runs through Thursday (Aug. 21-23) at Navy Pier in Chicago. Mother Nature is rolling out the red carpet for retailers this week as the weather forecast for Chicago is expected to be beautiful. If you are attending the IGC Show, keep and eye out for Pete Mihalek and I walking around the showfloor.
The Farwest Show will take place Thursday through Saturday (Aug. 23-25) at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. This is the 40th anniversary of the Farwest Show. If you are in Portland later this week, be on the lookout for Bob Bellew and Kim Sammartino manning the GPN/Lawn & Garden Retailer booth.
The GPN and Lawn & Garden Retailer staff has been doing its stretching exercises and we've got our walking shoes on because there are a ton of workshops, garden center and nursery tours and aisles and aisles of trade show to cover in the next six days — along with plenty of networking opportunities.
Safe travels if you are attending either event and hopefully we will see you in Chicago or Portland.
