Varieties in the Summertime Sweet series feature compact growth. They require little growth regulation and are ideal for intense production.
The Summertime Sweet series requires a minimum of four to five weeks cool temperature — 55/62° F leads to better flower display. To support flower development, increase temperatures six to seven weeks before the desired finish time by five degrees. Cool temperatures and high light (5,000 to 10,000 foot-candles) are the best ingredients for height control. After good shoot development, bring temperature down to 55° F. This will initiate flowering. Allow day temperatures to go up to 62° F.
The biggest challenge during cool growth is to keep Botrytis under control. Provide good air circulation, maintain relative humidity below 70 percent and do not overwater. An EC of 2.5 and pH of 6.0 to 6.5 are ideal.
It is recommended to pinch two weeks after potting up to five or six nodes, leaving 11/2 inches of growth below the pinch. Pinch hard; a soft pinch allows for dominant shoots to develop.
