Calipetite is a completely new series of calibrachoa with a tight, dense ball of color that doesn’t need any plant growth regulation. Naturally compact and well-behaved, this series is ideal for shipping and has long-lasting retail shelf appeal.
Calipetite does best in a media that is well aerated. For containers that will not be retransplanted, such as hanging baskets or large patio pots, a media with higher water-holding capacity is desirable for consumers. Optimum pH for Calipetite is 5.5 to 6.0 with a starting EC of 0.75.
Establish the crop at an average temperature of 60° F. Once established, grow at 63 to 70° F during the day and 63 to 65° F at night. For faster cropping, establish and grow at an average daily temperature of 68° F. Calibrachoa responds well to DIF regimes.
Bright light is ideal for this crop. Provide a minimum of 4,000 foot-candles. Calipetite is day length neutral, but will flower quicker under high light and long day conditions.
Delay applying fertilizer until the roots are well established. Then begin feeding with a complete, balanced fertilizer at 200- to 250-ppm nitrogen constant liquid feed. Provide a complete minor element program. Calipetite is more tolerant of a higher pH and less prone to iron deficiency.
