Cyclamen

Winfall is a new series of miniature cyclamen ideal for high-density production in 21/2- to 41/2-inch pots. Plants size up under low temperatures, requiring less energy. These tightly mounded plants are ideal for fall and winter—indoors and out!Plants are ready for transplant 10 to 12 weeks from sow in a 288 tray. Transplant plug with at least a third of the corm above the soil surface directly into the finish container. Select a porous media that drains well. This is particularly important during the cool season when temperatures and light levels are low, and media is dry. Maintain pH at 5.8 to 6.2, with maximum EC at 1.2. Cyclamen are sensitive to elevated soluble salt levels. Allow leaching to occur when fertilizing to avoid root problems due to high salt levels.Provide shade to allow a maximum of 4,400 foot-candles. Flowers will not be initiated if light levels drop below 2,000 foot-candles. Supplemental lighting at 300 to 500 foot-candles for a 12-hour day will increase bud count.
