Gaillardia

The new Galya series features a wide range of beautiful and unique flower colors. Galya varieties offer three flower types: single, double (shown) and trumpet. Gaillardia Galya exhibits a very branched and floriferous habit, and is ideal for gardens, patios and mixed containers.

Pinch once seven to 10 days on trays before planting, or seven to 10 days after planting and establishing.

Rooting takes two to three weeks at temperatures of 64 to 75° F. For 41/2-inch pots, use one plant per pot. It will be ready for sale (from rooted cutting) within five to eight weeks.

Keep plants moist, but never overwatered, to prevent root damage. Select a porous media that drains well. Well-drained commercial mixes can be used with gaillardia. Maintain a pH of 5.0 to 5.0.

In cool, wet weather use a preventative fungicide for downy mildew and Thielaviopsis. The most common insect pests are leaf miner and aphids, but both are easily controlled if detected and treated early.
