New Guinea Impatiens

This shade-loving alternative from seed offers fast crop times and top-quality plants for high-density production and season-long landscape satisfaction. The Florific series features uniform and well-branched plants paired with large, flat flowers on top of the foliage.

Florific New Guinea impatiens are suitable for packs, quarts, 6-inch containers, gallons and baskets. Maintain media pH at 6.0 to 6.4 and EC at 1.0 to 1.5. Alternate between moisture levels wet and moist. Media should be kept slightly moist but never saturated. Overwatering will cause soft growth, plant stretch and lack of flowering.

Fertilize with 100- to 150-ppm nitrogen. Use nitrate-based fertilizers (13-2-13, 15-5-15 or 17-5-17). Adjust fertilizer concentration based on EC levels. Leach with clear water every one to two weeks to avoid high salts. Symptoms of high media salts include leaves with bronzing on surface, edges rolling under, cupping downwards or burnt tips.

Maintain temperatures at 70 to 85° F days and 65 to 70° F nights. For shorter finishing times, maintain a minimum average daily temperature of 70° F. Florific can be grown at lower temperatures (55 to 60° F), but crop time is significantly longer.
