Proven Winners Announces Outdoor Living Extravaganza Event

January 30, 2009 - 13:58

Proven Winners will be hosting its first-ever consumer event called Outdoor Living Extravaganza, as part of an ongoing effort to reach new gardeners.

The first of this year’s two events will take place March 14 in the Chicago area. The second will take place April 25 in the Boston area. The Outdoor Living Extravaganza aims to bring out the “inner” exterior designer in everyone, regardless of whether they are gardeners. This event was created to complement Proven Winners’ goals of inspiring and educating consumers about the joys of gardening.

NBC Today Show gardening expert, well-known author and Lawn & Garden Retailer columnist P. Allen Smith will provide fun and practical gardening advice. “I'm looking forward to speaking to this crowd of winter-weary gardeners and sharing ideas from the newest book in my Garden Home series,” Smith said. He will be available for autographs immediately after his presentation.

Jane McKeon and James Baggett, senior editors at Meredith Corp., which publishes the Better Homes & Gardens magazines, will discuss the No. 2 reason people buy plants besides color: to attract wildlife such as butterflies and birds to their garden.

The Outdoor Living Extravaganza will start at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast and conclude at 4 p.m. The day will include five speakers, a lunch buffet, raffle prizes, colorful plant decorations and a goody bag filled $100 worth of gifts, including a Proven Winners plant.

The cost to attend is $45 per person and must be done prior to the event. There are a limited number of seats at both locations; registration is on a first-come basis.
