Q Biotype Found in More StatesSource: Q biotype Task Force

Since the discovery of Q biotype earlier in the year, more and more states have been discovering the whitefly. In the October 24, 2005 issue of GPN Weekly, we announced six additional states had tested positive for Q biotype. However, as of November 4, 2005, the number had risen to 12 states.

Below is the updated list of all of the states testing positive for the pest as of press time: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania. Though positive sites continue to be located, experts do not consider this an epidemic because Q biotypes do still respond to control measures.
