Employees at Sakata’s Burlington, Washington office helped contribute approximately 10,000 pounds of pumpkins to the Annual Pumpkin Bash at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

Sakata employees harvested four bins of pumpkins for the zoo’s annual family event. The pumpkins were hand-delivered to the zoo on Oct. 16 for the weekend-long festival.

The Woodland Park Zoo’s Annual Pumpkin Bash is a highly anticipated event by both human and animals that includes a range of family-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating, pumpkin feedings for the zoo animals, puppet shows, face painting and other games.

The donated pumpkins were used for animal feedings, toys for the animals, pumpkin carving, fall displays and activities for children attending the celebration.

In exchange for Sakata’s donation, Woodland Park Zoo generously offered 25+ free zoo tickets to Sakata employees.

Sakata plans to continue this tradition at the Woodland Park Zoo next year and believes this to be the beginning of an exciting partnership with the local zoo to provide unused produce to animals and support the community.
