May 11, 2008 - 13:14

Do drought concerns have you worried about the future of the industry in general and your business in specific? Then the daylong session, “What You Need to Do Right Now to Survive the Drought,” offered on Thursday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the Southeast Greenhouse Conference is a not-to-be-missed program.

The session will cover information that could make an immediate difference for you as well as help you in the long haul. Growers, retailers, landscapers, suppliers and academics in any way impacted by the drought are encouraged to attend.

Covering eight topics and featuring a distinguished panel of experts, this six-hour track will provide practical information for any business struggling with drought issues. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from experts, interact with peers, and hopefully discuss the drought-related problems threatening your business.

The following group sessions strive to help you survive the drought:

  • How to assess any business disaster
  • How to minimize future debt and cash flow problems
  • Strategic water independence: What can I do now, at a minimal cost?
  • Strategic energy conservation: What should I try to conserve?
  • Evaluating your current inventory: Does it fit future drought?
  • Drought can affect your business structure!
  • Surviving the political realities: Getting our act together

Other SGC attractions include a trade show exhibiting booths from all facets of the industry, three days of educational sessions and hands-on workshops, a full-day tour focused on perennials, a product showcase, a keynote presentation by Anna Ball of Ball Horticultural Company on the state of the industry, and networking opportunities.
