Speaker Announced for Ellison Floriculture Fall Lecture Series at Texas A&M
On Oct. 16, the Ellison International Floriculture Chair Distinguished Lecture Series at Texas A&M University will feature Stan Pohmer, chief executive officer of Pohmer Consulting Group, Minnetonka, Minn.
A reception will take place at 2 p.m. followed by Pohmers presentation at 3 p.m. at the Agriculture and Life Sciences Building, 600 John Kimbrough Blvd., College Station. The event is free and open to the public.
Pohmers topic is “How full is our bucket? We not only need rain, we need customers!”
“Drought is no stranger in Texas, but more and more of our country is beginning to experience the same challenges Texans have been dealing with,” Pohmer said. “We are just now starting to deal with the political, legislative and social implications of water scarcity and water quality.”
He contends that the industry has to deal with not only Mother Nature but human nature.
“We need to get aggressive and creative in understanding the dynamics of todays and tomorrows consumer,” Pohmer said.
Pohmer has more than 26 years of retail and consumer products experience and established his consulting business in 1996 to focus on horticulture, floral, lawn and garden and other perishable and seasonal industries.
He has held leadership positions in organizations such as the Produce Marketing Association, Floral Marketing Association, the American Nursery and Landscape Association and OFA the Association of Horticulture Professionals.
