Study: Bedding Plants Top Crop In 2005Source: GPN/OFA

Bedding plants were the number-one crop produced by growers in 2005, according to a new survey done by GPN magazine and OFA – an association of floriculture professionals. The study provides growers with up-to-date information about the green industry.

GPN magazine and OFA produced the 2006 GPN /OFA State of the Industry Survey to provide a current, detailed assessment of the floriculture industry. The survey results show that overall, bedding plants were the largest crop produced in 2005. Respondents said bedding plants were 32 percent of all crops grown last year. This was followed by potted crops (22 percent), herbaceous perennials (14 percent), woodies/nursery crops (10 percent) and vegetable transplants (8 percent).
