Texas A&M Develops Lecture Series
Charles Hall, professor of agricultural economics at the University of Tennessee, will present the inaugural speech for the International Floriculture Distinguished Lecture Series at Texas A&M.
The lecture will be at 2 p.m., April 11, 2006, in the Texas A&M University Horticulture and Forest Sciences Building. Hall will talk on “The U.S. Floriculture Industry: Structural Changes, Marketing Practices and Economic Impacts.” The event is free and open to the public.
The new lecture series is part of the Ellison Chair in International Floriculture program, created in 2004 “to advance the health and vitality of the floriculture industry on a national and international scope,” said Ed Hiler, chair holder.
Hall became nationally recognized as an expert on the production and marketing of horticultural products while at Texas A&M from 1988-2002. He continues that role in Tennessee where he specializes in marketing strategies and financial analysis for wholesale and retail firms and situation and outlook reports for major horticultural crops.
The lecture series will continue biannually with speakers from throughout the United States, Hiler said.
