UGA Announces Trial Garden Open HouseSource: UGA

The Trial Gardens at UGA are known nationally for trialing plants for the Southeast, and developing new plants for the horticulture industry. The trials provide firsthand landscape performance for the plants under harsh conditions of heat and humidity. The garden has also become 90% sustainable, reducing inputs wherever possible. And from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, June 17, you can join fellow growers, brokers, breeders, retailers and landscapers for an enjoyable morning of camaraderie while viewing the good, the bad and the ugly of new annuals and perennials. The gardens are open year round, but this rain-or-shine event offers a few special treats:

  • Guided tours and opinions by Dr. Allan Armitage
  • Networking and socializing with colleagues
  • Lunch prepared by the folks of Ball Horticultural
  • Ideas into sustainability

Please RSVP to ugatrialgardens@gmail.com by June 14, 2009 or as soon as possible. For more information and detailed directions, visit ugatrial.hort.uga.edu. If you have questions, contact Camille Evans at evansac@uga.edu or (706) 302-4351. Donations to the garden, which are used to hire students and maintain the garden, are always welcome.
