Wife Of Virginia Tech Horticulture Department Chair Remembered
As the Virginia Tech Department of Horticulture mourns the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy that occurred on April 16, 2007, it also remembers Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, wife of Jerzy Nowak, Department of Horticulture head, who was among the 32 victims. She was killed while teaching Intermediate French in Norris Hall. A memorial service for Couture-Nowak took place in the Peggy Hahn Horticulture Pavilion on the Virginia Tech Campus on Tuesday, April 24, 2007.
“Jocelyne was a charming woman, filled with warmth and sparkle, who we will remember as a dedicated teacher with a passion for the French language and culture and a love of gardens,” states the Virginia Tech Department of Horticulture’s Web site.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Couture-Nowak’s memory can be made to the Jocelyne Couture-Nowak Scholarship for French majors, the Jocelyne Couture-Nowak Memorial Garden Fund or the Sylvie Couture-Nowak Educational Fund:
