A Worthwhile Trip By Tim Hodson

Are you up for a trip to Bloomtown? Do you know where Bloomtown is?

You won’t find Bloomtown on a map but it looks like a worthwhile destination for our industry.

Bloomtown is a proposed reality web series about “the mud, sweat and tears of the horticulture industry.”

The series is the brainchild of Stephanie Winslow and Erik Light. Winslow is president of FlopaK, a floral packaging business based in St. Louis, Missouri.

She wants Bloomtown to be a movement “to enhance American life through the power of the flower.” The planned series will be about the people in our industry and will provide end-consumers with a better understanding of how, where and by whom flowers and plants are grown, purchased and sold.

The seeds for Bloomtown have been planted, but it still needs some help to grow. A Kickstarter fund has been initiated to help get the series produced.

The founders also are looking to spread the word about Bloomtown and what it can do for the industry by using social media. You can connect with Bloomtown on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Winslow would like your help putting Bloomtown on the map so she is inviting people throughout the industry to get involved and link to the social media pages or to contribute to the Kickstarter fund.

A trip to Bloomtown sounds like fun, doesn’t it?
