More on Poinsettias By Jasmina Dolce

In my last blog, Jim Barrett of University of Florida shared some of the top performers and trends he observed during the UF poinsettia trials. Today, I’d like to head northeast to Zionsville, Pennsylvania, where Dan Schantz Farm conducts one of the biggest poinsettia trials in the country. The trial featured more than 170 varieties from six poinsettia breeders. Nine industry representatives judged the varieties, and here are the winners!

For more information about the Dan Schantz Farm poinsettia trials, go to www.poinsettiatrial.com.

Best Novelty: ‘Sparkling Punch’ (Ecke/Dümmen)

Grower’s Choice: ‘Charon Red’ (Beekenkamp)

Have you grown any of the above varieties? How did they perform for you? Do you have any personal poinsettia favorites? Shoot me an email at jdolce@greatamericanpublish.com and let met know!
