Scholarships Offered for Grad Students By Tim Hodson

Are any of your employees planning on pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree in horticulture or a related field?

If they are, then they just might be eligible for one of the two scholarships that the American Floral Endowment is offering — the Altman Family Scholarship and the Paul Ecke, Jr. Scholarship.

These two merit-based scholarships are for graduate students who “have the skills and passion to become leading floricultural scientists and educators.”

The Altman Family Scholarship was created in 2015 by Ken and Deena Altman, owners of Altman Plants, who support numerous efforts to improve education and research for the industry. The 2016 scholarship amount is $5,900.

The Paul Ecke, Jr. Scholarship honors the late Paul Ecke, Jr., who made significant contributions to the floriculture industry and believed strongly in research and education. This is a two-year scholarship for $10,000 ($5,000 each year).

The deadline to apply for these scholarships is Feb. 1, 2017. All of the requirements for applying for either one of these awards can be found by clicking here.
