Anthony Tesselaar Adds Two New Licensed GrowersSource: Ferguson Caras PR

Anthony Tesselaar International and Anthony Tesselaar USA have added two new growers to its list of licensed growers in the United States. McCorkle Nurseries of Dearing, Ga., joins the group as a fully licensed grower of all Anthony Tesselaar branded products. Color Connection of Hemet, Calif., joins the group as a specialty grower of Flower Carpet roses.

“We believe both McCorkle and Color Connection will be great assets to the U.S. grower group,” said Dan Davids, president of Anthony Tesselaar USA, Inc. “Each helps fill a need in our distribution channel, and more importantly, each shares our commitment to high-quality plant material and customer service. We’ve spent a lot of time getting to know each other. This should be a win-win proposition for everyone. That’s always been our philosophy.”

McCorkle Nurseries, a family-run nursery founded in 1942, serves both independent nurseries and mass-market retailers throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. “We’re pleased to be associated with Anthony Tesselaar,” said Skeetter McCorkle, McCorkle CEO. “We look forward to working with them. The Anthony Tesselaar brands are something our customers want, and we’re happy to be able to provide them.”

Color Connection will be selling Flower Carpet roses exclusively to landscapers throughout California and seven western states. It will grow all six current Flower Carpet roses and will offer new Flower Carpet roses as they are introduced. “Flower Carpet roses are a terrific series,” said Bill Shinkle, owner of Color Connection. “We are proud to be a part of the Anthony Tesselaar family. These roses, which do very well in the hot dry climates we serve, are an important addition to our line.”

Anthony Tesselaar believes its semi-exclusive licensing arrangements “help keep product quality control high – essential for maintaining the high-quality image of the Anthony Tesselaar brands – while encouraging maximum commitment to the program from the participating growers.”

The Anthony Tesselaar brands of patented perennials currently include Flower Carpet roses, Tropicana cannas, My Favorite perennial mums, Storm agapanthus, Volcano phlox and Colorflash astilbe.

The other group of licensed Anthony Tesselaar growers includes Angelica Nurseries, Kennedyville, Md; Clinton Nurseries, Clinton, Conn.; El Modeno Gardens, Irvine, Calif.; Flowerwood Nursery, Loxely, Ala.; MerryGro Farms, Eustis, Fla.; Midwest Groundcovers, St. Charles, Ill.; Monrovia Growers, Azusa, Calif.; Prides Corner Farms, Lebanon Conn.; and Zelenka Nursery, Grand Haven Mich.
