David Roberts, a graduate student at North Carolina State University, is the recipient of the American Floral Endowment’s (AFE) BioWorks IPM/Sustainable Practices Scholarship. The scholarship is intended for sophomore, junior or senior students pursuing a career in floriculture. While not mandatory, BioWorks wants students to be interested in furthering the use of integrated pest management (IPM) or sustainable practices. Students were evaluated on the basis of sound academic performance and a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Roberts says he plans to one day earn his Ph.D. and dedicate his life to researching and teaching. For more information on BioWorks, visit www.bioworksinc.com.
