The deadline to for college students to apply for the Robert and Shirley Mangum Memorial Scholarship is April 27. The $2,000 scholarship was created to encourage collegiate studies in the fields of ornamental horticulture, floriculture, greenhouse growing, interior landscaping and related studies.

The $2,000 scholarship was created to encourage collegiate studies in the fields of ornamental horticulture, floriculture, greenhouse growing, interior landscaping and related studies.

The Scholarship is administered by the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. It is given to an undergraduate or graduate student who is a resident of Montgomery County, MD, and who is enrolled or plans to attend any accredited two-year or four-year educational institution located within the United States.

The Scholarship is designed to assist students who have demonstrated character, scholarship & talent and preference is given to those who are interested in pursuing an education and eventual career in the Maryland horticultural industry.

The Scholarship honors the contribution of Robert T. Mangum, a lifelong Montgomery County, MD resident, Member and Director of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

The Mangum’s businesses, Bell Flowers, Bell Nursery and Premier Plantscapes continue under the stewardship of the Mangum family.
