Emerald Coast Growers Expands Native Plants CollectionSource: Emerald Coast Growers

One of North America’s largest ornamental grass liner suppliers, Emerald Coast Growers chooses native grasses and perennials in its Native Wonders collection for their easy-to-grow features, vibrant fall colors and interesting habits. For 2010, Emerald Coast has selected four new ornamental grass varieties to add to the program, bringing the collection’s total to 28 varieties.

“Each of these new varieties builds on our full range of North American natives, giving growers a new way to distinguish themselves from the competition,” said Cheri Markowitz, Emerald Coast Growers’ sales manager. “Every plant in the collection takes full advantage of the natives’ striking habits yet also provides the versatility to perform for many different uses.”

The new varieties are Andropogon glomeratus (Bushy beard bluestem), Bouteloua curtipendula (Sideoats grama grass), Carex pensylvanica (Pennsylvania sedge), and Sporobolus heterolepis (Prairie dropseed).

Native Wonders varieties are available in as large as a 21 landscaping plug to the economical 128-cell tray. For more information on the Native Wonders program, call (877) 804-7277 or visit Emerald Coast’s website.
