National Garden Bureau, All-America Selections Elect New Officers and DirectorsSource: National Garden Bureau

The National Garden Bureau (NGB), the non-profit organization promoting gardening on behalf of the horticulture industry, and All-America Selections (AAS), the non-profit organization that promote winners of specific professional garden trials met recently during the ASTA Flower & Vegetable Seed Conference in California to plan future activities and elect board members.

At that time, NGB members elected a new president, vice president and three new directors to the board.

NGB announced the 2016-2017 officers as:

  • President: Heather Kibble, Sakata Seed
  • Vice President: Tim Hodson, Great American Media Services
  • Past president: Claire Watson, PanAmerican Seed
  • Treasurer: Mike Connelly, American Takii

Three new directors joined Rebecca Lusk, The Dummen Group, and Jeanne Svob, SHS Griffin, on the NGB Board The new directors are: John Fendley, Sustainable Seeds; Ryan McEnaney, Bailey Nurseries; and Mike Lizotte, American Meadows

NGB’s future plans include introducing new programs to help members promote their products and sustain the awareness of gardening as a fun and beneficial activity.

Each organization is on a two-year rotation of electing officers so AAS elected one new director to add to the current board.

The Board is currently led by President Angus Mellish, Vesey Seed; Vice President Connie Dam-Byl, William Dam Seeds; Past President Ron Cramer, Xiant Technologies; Treasurer Patty Buskirk, Seeds By Design.

All-America Selection welcomed Tony Nederhand, Express Seed, to the Board.

The other AAS directors include:

  • John Burrows, ProVeg Seeds
  • Justin Hancock, Costa Farms
  • Mark Gross, PanAmerican Seed
  • Jenny Kuhn, C. Raker & Sons
  • Jenny Wegley, Dallas Arboretum
