Nominations are being accepted for the America in Bloom John R. Holmes III Community Champion Award, now through July 31, 2012.

This honor recognizes an individual who exemplifies community leadership through actions that reflect the mission of the organization. The award recipient, who must be from a city that has participated or is currently participating in the program, will have demonstrated a vision and selfless commitment to moving the community forward.

America in Bloom (AIB) created the award in 2009 in memory of John R. Holmes III, the late CEO of OFA – The Association of Horticulture Professionals, who died unexpectedly three years ago.

Last year’s winner was Vivian Lund, Warrenville, Ill. Lund demonstrated servant leadership for more than 60 years in her adopted home town of Warrenville, Ill. As a dedicated teacher, mother, and the town’s mayor, Lund has worked tirelessly to enhance the neighborhoods and improve the living conditions of Warrenville’s citizens.

This year’s award will be presented during the 2012 AIB Symposium & Awards Program, Sept. 20-22 in Fayetteville, Ark. The symposium is open to all who may have an interest in AIB activities.

To nominate someone, please complete the online form (including a 500-word maximum essay).
