Six students were selected by AmericanHort to serve as this year’s HortScholars.

Six students were selected by AmericanHort to serve as this year’s HortScholars.

The HortScholars Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students attending two- and four-year colleges and universities. Applicants must major in horticulture or a related field and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The program’s goal is to provide students with an enriching professional development experience that increases their knowledge, industry awareness and career enthusiasm. Recipients receive a one-year AmericanHort membership.

The 2015 recipients are:
Sarah Leach Smith: University of Delaware
Bobby Vance: Virginia Tech
Madeline Olberg: Purdue University
Nick Sobecki: Ohio University
Emily Teng: University of Hawaii
William Yoho, Jr.: Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute

The 2015 HortScholars will attend Cultivate’15, receiving complimentary registration, lodging and meals. At the event, HortScholars will assist the Generation Next Community with events; conduct presentations; attend exhibitions and educational sessions; meet with industry mentors; and network at social events.
