ANLA Introduces New Hall of Famer and New PresidentSource: American Nursery & Landscape Association

The American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA) has inducted Carl Meyer, president of Horticultural Services, Inc. into its hall of fame and has sworn in Greg Schaan, president and CEO of Imperial Nurseries, as the new president of ANLA.

Established in 1966, the ANLA Hall of Fame Award is given to an outstanding nursery and landscape industry professional whose business and community accomplishments serve as an example for others in the industry. Meyer’s election into the Hall of Fame is a testament of his commitment to leadership and service, to his family and their business as well as to the green industry and its associations.

Schaan assumed presidency during ANLA’s Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio. He brings a perspective that combines non-industry, corporate experience and his 12 years with Imperial Nurseries. During his tenure in the nursery and landscape industry, Schaan served on the executive committee of the Horticultural Research Institute (HRI), the Horticultural Distribution Committee – the predecessor of ANLA’s Landscape Distribution division – and as President of the New England Nursery Association (NENA).

During his swearing-in ceremony at the ANLA’s Annual Meeting, Schaan stated: “Our industry is certainly facing many challenges right now, but there is good news. We are part of an industry and, as members of ANLA, an organization that has weathered these business cycles for 132 years. We understand the need to continue to invest in our businesses even during difficult economic times. While we will make adjustments to help weather the storm, the very nature of our business requires that we think long term. We must always be preparing for when we return to better times – and they will return.”
