Walters Gardens Inc. Announces Shift in Top Level Positions
Dave Walters, president of Walters Gardens, Inc., recently retired after 40 years of service. Walters is the eldest son of Dennis Walters, who started the family business in 1946. Some of Dave Walter’s earliest memories of working in the business are of pulling weeds in the fields with his dad and other laborers.
Through the years, he worked both in the fields and the office, beginning by entering orders and making shipping labels on a manual typewriter and eventually leading the transition into a “paperless” office in the 1990s. He started the first computer system ever used in the office and was also the company’s first sales manager.
Evan Elenbaas, who has served as the vice president of sales for the past 15 years, has been promoted to president of Walter Gardens, Inc. In his new position, Evan will focus on maintaining high-quality customer service, promoting good interdepartmental communication and utilizing the many skills and talents of the office staff.
Walters Gardens, Inc. also welcomes Niles Riese as the new vice president of sales. Niles comes to Walters Gardens, Inc. from Glass Corner Greenhouses, Grand Rapids, Mich. He has 30 years of experience in the green industry, mainly with flower seeds and young plants. In his new position, Niles will work to increase sales within the current markets and expand into new markets.
