Floricultura in Salinas, California, will be the 2016 California Spring Trials site for German breeding companies, Westhoff and PAC, Dutch breeding company Beekenkamp and San Diego County-based young plant producer, Plug Connection.

These companies will be displaying their new introductions in Floricultura’s 400,000-square-foot glass greenhouse,

Westhoff, selling under the brand name Westflowers in North America, is a global leader in the breeding and introduction of new vegetative bedding plants. The company will be showcasing a full line of new genetics as well as some of its award winning standouts, like Crazytunia petunias, Estrella verbena, Hot & Star lobelia and Beauty Yellow argyranthemum.

PAC is a world renowned breeder in Pelargonium with classic series like the Elanos, Darko and Flower Fairy zonal types as well as many very unique genetics like the award winning Bermuda interspecific types.

Beekenkamp, a breeder and young plant producer headquartered in the Netherlands, will be showcasing their industry leading lines of Begonia, Dahlia and Celosia.

Plug Connection is one of the region’s premier young plant producers providing high quality plants from the start. Located in Vista, Calif., Plug Connection’s complete product assortment makes them a primary supplier for many West Coast growers. Plug Connection will be showcasing new Mighty 2’Mato double grafted tomato, new Pixie Grapes dwarf grape, new Ketchup ’n’ Fries by TomTato (grafted tomato and potato plant), Mighty ‘Mato grafted program, Mesa Magic Cyclamen, Tessera Succulents, Certified Organic Herbs and Vegetables, FASCINATION and ROMANCE Carnation, and other classics and best-sellers.

The trial site at Floricultura will be open to visitors April 10 to14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Industry members interested in touring the California Spring Trials at Floricultura should register at www.horticultureevents.com/CAST.
