Want to play a key role in changing the way the horticulture industry is perceived by federal policymakers?
The 2009 Legislative Conference, sponsored by the American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), offers a unique opportunity to rebrand the nursery, greenhouse and landscape industry in the eyes of federal policymakers – shifting the industry’s perception from purely ornamental to essential.
The conference will take place from July 20 to 22 in the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, D.C.
ANLA’s government relations team and other Washington experts will brief participants on the legislative and regulatory complexities of issues ranging from water use regulation to immigration and green infrastructure. Then participants will head to Capitol Hill to share their stories with the members of the House and Senate who represent their interests.
With 14 new senators and 58 new congressmen, the time appears ripe for change. The group of participants will voice the needs of the industry as a whole, and push for legislative action that will help the industry not only get through the current recession, but also emerge stronger and healthier than before.
“This is the year we need our heavy hitters lobbying here in Washington. The sea of change in our government, brought on by last November’s elections, presents new opportunities to redefine the value of our industry in the eyes of government,” said Craig Regelbrugge, ANLA vice president of government relations. “Reaping the benefit of ‘green initiatives’ and the potential for immigration reform will not be realized without the passionate voices of our members and partners. We need you.”
