University of Florida Schedules Poinsettia TrialSource: University of Florida

The University of Florida will host its annual National Poinsettia Variety Trial – Grower Field Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8. More than 100 varieties will be on display from Ecke, Dümmen, Selecta, Syngenta and GroLink.

Detailed reviews of varieties and research will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Growers are recommended to attend the afternoon session to be in a smaller group, where their specific needs can be covered.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about new varieties for Florida; see scheduling and PGR examples for several important varieties; learn about the newest novelty varieties, as well as other new introductions, and how they might perform in Florida; and meet fellow growers and discuss marketing ideas. No registration is required.

The Master Gardener & Public Open House and plant sale will take place Thursday, Dec. 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The National Poinsettia Variety Trial is a cooperative effort between North Carolina State University, Purdue University, Homewood Gardens, the University of Florida and the poinsettia breeder companies.
