OFA To Offer Pest Management And Energy Seminars
OFA – an Association of Floriculture Professionals will present outreach seminars on pest management and energy issues in November and December. The first program on pest management will take place at the Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo next month.
On Nov. 7, 2006 at the Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo, Raymond Cloyd, Kansas State University and Colleen Warfield, North Carolina State University, will present a seminar on pest management. During the seminar, Cloyd and Warfield will address pest management strategies to combat insects, mites and pathogens in the greenhouse. Biology and life cycles of the major pests will be explained. Cultural, physical, chemical and best biological pest management strategies also will be covered. The Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo will take place Nov. 7-8, 2006 at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Mich.
“Surviving the Looming Energy Crisis” will be the topic of the December seminar. It will take place Dec. 12, 2006 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.
During the program, presenters will analyze greenhouse energy use from different perspectives and how it can impact the bottom line of a greenhouse business. Presenters include Erik Runkle and Matt Blanchard from Michigan State University, Paul Thomas and Forrest Stegelin from the University of Georgia and A.J. Both from Rutgers University.
