Petunia

Petunia Blankets are well known for their vigor and exceptional weather tolerance. These varieties perform well in the landscape in all regions. They are early to flower and finished plant height is 6-9 inches. A well-drained soil is required at a pH of 5.5-6.2. Water thoroughly and let soil dry between irrigations. Overwatering, oxygen deprivation and poor drained soils may cause foliar chlorosis similar to iron or manganese deficiency.Apply well-balanced feed at 200- to 250-ppm nitrogen on constant basis. Additional iron or manganese may need to be added to stock for maximum growth. These plants will grow quickly and to great lengths. A pinch is suggested after plant is established. Two weeks after transplant, pinch again or trim dominate stems. A week later, apply a Sumagic spray at 15-30 ppm or Bonzi as a drench at 1-3 ppm for finishing. Blanket petunias are recommended for 4-inch and 6-inch pots, 10-inch hanging baskets and combinations planters. For consumers, Blankets work well in mixed containers and landscape/bedding use.
