Last week, Sakata announced staff changes to its North American Ornamentals Business.

Effective April 1, 2012, Mark Seguin, assumed the role of Global Ornamental Marketing Manager for the vegetative portfolio at Sakata. Prior to this appointment, Seguin was Sakata’s Vegetative Product Manager for North America.

Seguin will provide global and regional strategic leadership in product development and supply chain and is responsible for vegetative marketing plans within the US market.

Also effective April 1st, Ron Cramer, who as Global Marketing Manager led the development of Sakata’s vegetative ornamentals business in both Europe and NAFTA, will assume the role of Senior Global Ornamentals Advisor.

Sakata also announced that Ron Garofalo has joined the sales and marketing team in the position of Senior Sales Manager; Flower Seeds – NAFTA. Garofalo will direct and lead all sales and product management activities for the flower seed assortment – pot, bedding and cut flowers.

Before joining Sakata, Garofalo served for 14 years as vice president of sales at Goldsmith Seeds. After Goldsmith was acquired by Syngenta, he continued in the role of head of sales for NAFTA.

Sakata also announced that Brad Smith has been hired asf Retail Category Manager; Ornamentals – NAFTA. Smith will lead ornamentals sales and marketing activities directed toward the retail channel and will work closely with growers serving that channel.
