SGC Shows Southern HospitalitySource: SGC

This year’s Southeast Greenhouse Conference (SGC), which took place June 19 to 21 in Greenville, S.C., strayed from the typical format to provide attendees with a unique, informative and interactive experience.

The event featured nearly 400 trade show booths and three days of educational sessions; however, the most notable (and fun) element for attendees might have been some of the networking opportunities. As a precursor to a full trade show schedule, guests were invited to participate in the Goldsmith Seeds Golf Tournament or Robrick Nursery and Fafard Sporting Clays Tournament. After all, there’s nothing like a little friendly competition to spark conversation among industry professionals! And instead of a typical ballroom, the opening reception took place on the trade show floor, allowing attendees to network against the backdrop of some of the industry’s hottest products.

The conference wasn’t all fun and games; a great deal of learning also took place. Lectures, displays and hands-on workshops covered topics such as drought, disease management and energy efficiency. Workshops with limited class sizes also allowed participants to do some in-depth exploration.

Next year’s SGC is set for June 18 to 20, 2009, in Greenville. For more information about this year’s conference or what to expect for next year, visit www.sgcts.org or call (614) 487-1117.
