SNA Elects New OfficersSource: Southern Nursery Association

The Southern Nursery Association (SNA) announced its 2006-2007 officers at its 107th annual meeting in Atlanta, Ga. D.E. “Skeeter” McCorkle, McCorkle Nurseries, Dearing, Ga., is the new SNA president. William Turk, Martin’s Nursery, Semmes, Ala., was elected vice president.

The new chapter directors are:

  • Eelco Tinga, Jr., Tinga Nurseries, Castle Hayne, N.C.
  • George Hackney, Hackney Nurseries, Greensboro, Fla.
  • Jim Wallitsch, Wallitsch Garden Center, Louisville, Ky.

The immediate past president is William J. Boyd of Flower City Nurseries, Smartt, Tenn.

The SNA also announced that the 10th Biennial Southern Plant Conference, produced in conjunction with the Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association, will take place Sept.6-7, 2007, in Mobile, Ala. The conference is designed to increase communications on new plant varieties and decrease the average time needed to bring them to market. Approximately 2-dozen plant experts will make presentations at the 2-day conference.
