STRIVE Act Outlines Immigration Reform Key ComponentsSource: ANLA

Last month, a bipartisan group of congressmen announced the introduction of the Security Through Regularized Immigration and a Vibrant Economy Act of 2007 (STRIVE Act). Authored by Representatives Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), the STRIVE comprehensively addresses the nation’s immigration system.

The key components of the bill include increased border security, an electronic employee verification system, a year-round temporary worker program, earned adjustment for the 12 million undocumented people currently in the United States and the AgJOBS reforms.

No schedule has been determined for when the STRIVE Act will be debated in the House Judiciary Committee, however, House Speaker Pelosi has previously indicated that debate on immigration reform should begin sometime this spring.
