Sutera Betty brings groundbreaking genetics to the bacopa class with exceptionally large flowers. This series also boasts a dense plant habit. Betty varieties have shown to flower under hot conditions in comparison trials across the country. Finished height is 4 to 6 inches.
Optimum pH for sutera is 5.6 to 5.9 with an EC level below 1.0. Periodic leaching will help maintain low EC levels. Allow soil to slightly dry between irrigations. Media kept too dry will possibly result in reduced flower size and flowering.
Fertilize with 100- to 200-ppm nitrogen using a balanced feed to maintain color of foliage. Low ammonium feeds will help control soft growth under lower light conditions. Include a microelement source as part of the fertilizer solution.
Pinch once or twice after transplant to increase branching.
Betty prefers medium to medium-high light. Low light levels result in poor branching, stem stretch and reduced flowering. Light shading under extreme greenhouse heat will help promote high-quality plants. Keep light intensities at 4,000 to 8,000 foot-candles.
