Talk About Pest Management By Tim Hodson

When I am surfing the the Internet and I see a headline that says “More Than 1 Million Cockroaches Escape,” you know I have to click on that link because inquiring minds need to know more and that article definitely piqued my interest

For most people, cockroaches are nothing but trouble, but for others they can be a business opportunity.

It seems a farmer in China was raising cockroaches in a greenhouse that could be used for traditional Chinese medicine. Some Chinese doctors use the pests to treat different types of diseases and other medical maladies.

But an “unknown perpetrator” some how damaged the greenhouse allowing approximately 1.5 million roaches to flee – wreaking havoc around the farmer’s property and causing thousands of dollars in damage.

I thought I would let you know about this story because this week I will be at the OFA Disease, Insect & Plant Growth Management Conference in Vancouver, Wash.

I wonder if anyone will be talking about cockroaches while I am there?
