Trialing Times and Timely Trials By Tim Hodson

The 2011 edition of California Spring Trials takes place at the end of this month. Floriculture’s Fashion Week is scheduled for March 26 through April 1 throughout the Golden State.

California Spring Trials is always an adventure for the GPN team. Last year, our first night in California we got to experience an earthquake in the middle of the night. Then, whoever said it never rains in southern California was lying — because over the next two days raindrops were definitely falling on our heads and our windshield as we headed north. But as the week went on and we made our way up the coast, the weather got better every day and, of course, was gorgeous by the time we had to return home. Mother Nature’s whims aside, California Spring Trials provides us with a great opportunity to catch up with all of our friends and find out what’s on the horizon for our industry.

What’s in Store This Year?

As we visit with the breeder companies and other exhibitors this spring, Jasmina and I will be looking for and reporting on the latest trends as well as the cool new variety introductions and innovative programs that we see along the way. We will let you know what’s getting all of the attention and what people are really talking about.

We will have extensive coverage of our trip in the June and July issues of GPN.

Don’t Forget Your On-Line Resource

But we will also have daily coverage of Spring Trials on our website www.CaliforniaSpringTrials.com.

Each day, Jasmina and I will be posting photos, commentary and videos on www.CaliforniaSpringTrials.com of the new introductions and marketing programs that are on display. And we will be Tweeting and posting updates to our Facebook pages which you can access on www.CaliforniaSpringTrials.com. So be sure to bookmark the page and follow along with us on our journey.

For those of you attending Spring Trials, www.CaliforniaSpringTrials.com has all of the contact information you need to make the trip.

You will also find the digital version of GPN’s 2011 California Spring Trials Companion that you can access on your smartphone.

If you’re headed to Spring Trials, look us up!
