Who's Going to the Head of the Class This Year?
Do you know an intriguing intern? Every year when the new school year begins, and college students return to the classroom and greenhouses at their schools, GPN and Nexus Corp. begin our quest to find this year’s Intern of the Year.
We want to find that one special student who will become one of the pacesetters for our industry in the coming years.
The GPN/Nexus Intern of the Year will be the subject of the cover story of GPN in January 2012 and will receive a $3,000 check; travel and lodging expenses to OFA Short Course in Columbus, Ohio, next July; and a complimentary four-day registration to Short Course courtesy of OFA.
To qualify for the GPN/Nexus Intern of the Year scholarship, the student must be working on an undergraduate degree in horticulture at a four-year accredited university during the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 academic year. And the student needs to have completed a greenhouse internship in 2011. To apply for this scholarship, students meeting this criteria need to submit:

- A letter of recommendation on university letterhead from the applicant’s academic advisor; and
- A minimum 1,000 word essay describing the internship experience including who the student interned for, what his or her responsibilities were and what was learned during the internship.
